Considering the direction of population growth as efficiency increases

Advances in technology are increasing efficiency in all aspects.

There are only 24 hours in a day, so if society’s systems become more efficient, we will be able to make better use of our time.

However, it is also true that some jobs will be eliminated if efficiency is improved.

New jobs > Jobs that will disappear

If so, there is no problem, but,

New jobs < Jobs that will disappear

If this is the case, some people will not be able to work to live.

On the other hand, from the perspective of the economy, tax revenue, and social security, it is considered desirable for the population to increase.

The more the population increases,

・Economy becomes prosperous

・Tax revenue increases

・Social security can also be provided generously.

For this reason, various measures are currently being taken against the declining birthrate.

But,

・Efficiency eliminates work

・Population increases

This means that they will be competing for fewer jobs.

Looking further around the world, the world population is expected to continue to increase in the future.

However, since the earth’s resources are limited, each country will definitely compete for them.

Japan is a country with few resources.
(Although it’s good at using scarce resources efficiently)

If we were to use our own resources to support our population without importing resources from overseas, our population would be even smaller than it is now.
(Japan’s current population is 100 million, but the population at the end of the Edo period(about 160 years ago), when people were almost restricted to trade other countiries by the authority, was about 30 million.)

It will definitely need more resources for the population increase in Japan.

While Japan purchases resources from overseas, it is also important to consider whether the people of the countries where those resources are located are able to survive.

I think it is necessary to think about what kind of social structure should be rebuilt as the population decreases, without relying on population growth in Japan.
