The overwhelming spatial proportion of the sky
It was a sunny day for the first time in a while, so I grabbed my outdoor chair and went for a walk.
The temperature was mild, making the weather very comfortable.
I found a slightly open area and set up my outdoor chair.
I sat back in the chair and enjoyed the scenery before me.
Looking up at the sky, it appeared as if what was in front of me was a huge, spherical ceiling like that of a planetarium.
What I was struck by was how the sky took up an overwhelming proportion of the space.
The things on the ground were only a small part of it.
Since we usually live on the ground, most of what we perceive is on the ground.
It gives the illusion that it is the whole world.
There may be something in the sky, which appears to be empty.
(It’s just that people can’t perceive it)
Even if we think about it in two dimensions, the ground is a limited space.
(It is said that 70% of the Earth’s surface is sea and 30% is land)
When looking down on the planet Earth, we feel that the places where we can live are limited.
(However, it is difficult to live in the sky or sea)
The space that makes up the Earth is not complete with the ground, there is the sky and sea.
The way we perceive things changes in various ways depending on where we focus our attention.
It would be good to look up at the sky once in a while and feel the vastness of space.
It will help you get away from the everyday scenery and refresh yourself.
