Without being tied to the distant future, we build up each day
When thinking about my future direction, I sometimes imagine the future.
Sometimes it’s the near future, about a month from now, and sometimes it’s the distant future.
But even if I imagine a future that’s too far away, I never really know how it’s going to turn out.
(The only thing that’s clear is the fact that I’m getting older.)
I never know what’s going to happen a year from now, six months from now, a month from now, or even tomorrow.
My long-term goals are:
- To stay healthy (avoiding hospital visits as much as possible, and maintaining a state where I can live independently without assistance)
- To enjoy eating with my own teeth (maintaining 20 teeth at age 80)
Only.
Even if I accumulate wealth, it’s not immutable, and it fluctuates as the rules change.
(I don’t have the ability to earn an excess of wealth in the first place)
The rules can suddenly change, and they’re not something we can control.
In order to obtain the things I need in my daily life, I want to keep training every day so that I can provide something to someone myself.
I think it’s important to build on each and every day in the present, without making any preconceived notions about the distant future.
(While being flexible enough to change direction depending on the situation)
Because the future is more volatile than we think.
