Reasons to avoid crowds

The Obon holidays are busy everywhere.

I saw the film Kokuhō the other day.

It was completely sold out.
(The runtime was three hours.
The story continued to surprise me until the end.
It was very satisfying.)

When I left the parking lot, there was a traffic jam at the exit.

Crowds negatively affect both how I spend my time and my mental state.

They cause irritation and reduce patience.

For this reason, I avoid crowds whenever possible.
(Yesterday was an exception because it was the only time that fit my schedule.)

Since I opened my practice, I have greater control over my time.

I do not need to have lunch precisely at noon.

I am not required to start work at nine and finish at six.
(Overtime working is not part of my routine.)

I can, to some extent, shift my schedule away from society’s standard time frame.
(Perhaps enjoying that freedom has made me less tolerant of crowds than before.)

If I do not pay attention to time, it can feel abundant.

I may unconsciously assume that tomorrow will certainly come.

Yet each day reduces our remaining lifespan, however slightly.
(Though, there is no reason to rush.)

What matters is using each day in a way that satisfies us.

Over time, those choices become the way we live.

They liberate us from unnecessary regret.
