Importance of making time to be conscious of the time we have left in life

I use an app called “Life Clock 人生時計” on my phone.

I sometimes turn it on to see how much time I have left in my life.

When you enter your gender and date of birth, this app displays an hourglass-like image with the time remaining in your life at the top and the time you have finished using at the bottom.

Assuming that the average lifespan for men is 81.88 years old (in Japan), the time left in my life at this point (age 39) is 51% of my entire life.

“I’ve already used time for almost half of my life!”

I feel that way, but I‘m not so afraid.

I use it to be aware of how much time I have left and to review how much time I have spent on the things I hope to do.

Since starting my own business as a sole proprietor, I feel that the days, weeks, and months have gone by more slowly than before.

I think this is because I make all the decisions on what to do or not to do.
(Choosing things and making decisions puts a strain on the brain)

When I worked for a company, tasks were assigned in advance, and I was required to know how to complete them by the deadline.

Basically, I couldn’t choose my job in that situation.
(Therefore, I also had to acquire work avoidance skills at the same time.)

However, when I start my own business, I can usually choose the work I hope.

“Is this really something I want to spend my time doing?”

I believe that it is regularly necessary to take time to reconsider this question.

This is because our own thoughts change from moment to moment as we are influenced by information and the environment we belong to.

Past decisions we made and current decisions we make are not always the same.

The way we see things, perceive things, and our values are fluid.
