“Reason” for vegetables with a reason [Interpretation of “reason”]

When I go to a vegetable store, there are sometimes vegetables with a reason on display.

Those are scratches on the surface of the eggplant or moth-eaten parts of the cabbage being cut off.

Therefore, the price is lower than the regular one.

Many people are used to seeing the pretty-looking vegetables lined up in stores.

Compared to vegetables that have no blemishes, it probably means that vegetables that have scratches or moth-eaten parts “have a reason”.

However, as anyone who has ever grown vegetables knows, it is not easy to grow vegetables that are intact and beautifully shaped.

During the growing process of vegetables, they are greatly influenced by the natural environment such as temperature, rain and wind, and the presence of insects.

If you grow it naturally without any modification,

・Cucumbers won’t grow straight

・Cabbage leaves have marks that have been eaten by insects.

・Lettuce has slugs on it

Vegetables that are beautiful shape have been modified by humans in a way that goes against nature, so they are truely“for a reason” in this sense.

Every day, when we see supermarket shelves filled with beautiful vegetables , we tend to think that such vegetables are more normal.

If you see such a scene every day, you will understand that vegetables that are naturally grown and have scratches are more “for a reason.”

Coming to thinking of it that way, it might be able to say the same thing about people.

It may be that people who lack individuality are “for a reason” because they have been modified by humans to become more uniform.
