The element of luck cannot be ignored
The other day there was a storm of rain and thunder.
I was driving home in the pouring rain.
I arrived at my car park and ran into my apartment building without an umbrella.
The thunderstorm was still continuing.
I pressed the elevator button and waited ten seconds.
The elevator arrived.
And just as the doors opened, there was a violent lightning strike.
And then, to my surprise, the power went out.
The floor display disappeared, but the lights inside the elevator remained on.
(Perhaps because it had switched to battery operation. In the event of a power outage, the elevator usually move to the nearest floor using battery power and the door open.)
However, if the power had gone out while I was in the elevator, I would have felt a little uneasy.
If the power had gone out ten seconds later, I was in the elevator.
The present is made up of an accumulation of each and every choice.
With each choice, countless worlds branch out and progress.
Furthermore, everything around us is made up of countless variables.
Each of these variables (actively or passively) produces a certain value, and then the event in front of us is realized.
In such a situation, the element of luck cannot be ignored.
Also, the fact that we don’t know what will happen brings with it both anxiety and excitement.
How we perceive it changes depending on our state at the time.
To keep the element of luck in the back of our mind is necessary in life.
